Fire Safety Order

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO) came into force on 1st October 2006 and covers all premises except for a single private dwelling. Under the Order, anyone who has control of premises or anyone who has a degree of control over certain areas or systems will be identified as the ‘responsible person’ and the law requires that the responsible person carries out a Fire Risk Assessment.

The Order applies to all premises and to comply with the order you must:

Carry out a Fire Risk Assessment identifying any possible dangers and risks, and consider who may be especially at risk. Eliminate or reduce the risk from fire as far as is reasonably possible and provide general fire precautions to deal with any possible risk left.

Take other measures to make sure there is protection if flammable or explosive materials are used or stored. Create a plan to deal with any significant emergency findings; and review your findings when necessary.

In order to comply with the Order you must take the following steps:

  • Identify Fire Hazards
  • Identify People At Risk
  • Remove or Reduce the Hazards
  • Record, Plan, Inform, Instruct and Train
  • Review
  • Partnership Working

Fire Risk Assessment

Working with you we will produce a written Fire Risk Assessment which is specific to your premises or business, reports are available in a bound hard copy or an electronic version. The Assessments are easy to follow and have a dedicated action plan as well as giving further advice where specialist information can be found. As with any of our services, after you have received your Fire Risk Assessment we will give you full back up support to enable you to meet any of the significant findings. We ensure that the Assessment identifies the most cost effective way of meeting compliance with fire legislation.

Fire Risk Audits

As part of your legal obligations you should also carry out regular reviews of your Fire Risk Assessment and a full review after three years or if any significant changes take place including, design of building, the building’s use or introduction of additional staff or hazardous processes.

As part of a package based on risk and the legislative  requirement we can regularly review your Fire Risk Assessments. We can carry out a Fire Risk Audit to ensure you are fully up to date and compliant with current fire legislation.
